From Family Photos to Cake Smashes
One of my favorite sessions to photograph, outside of weddings, is cake smashes. There’s something incredibly magical about witnessing parents celebrate a significant milestone in their child’s life. Leah and Tyler joined me early in the evening, just before their little one Kade’s first birthday. Kade was all smiles and giggles as we ventured into a picturesque field for some lovely family photos. It was a privilege to capture such joyous moments of them as a family.
As we wrapped up the family photos, it was time for the main event: Kade’s cake smash! Leah brought along an adorable rocking chair for him to sit in, and Kade was captivated by the sight of his balloons dancing in the wind. Although we lost a few balloons to the breeze, we were still able to use the remaining ones for some stunning photos. As the sun began to set, Leah and Tyler placed the cake in front of Kade. Without hesitation, he grabbed a big handful of cake, making everyone laugh as he tasted cake for the first time. It was a heartwarming moment, full of laughter and joy.
After cleaning up the cake mess, we seized the opportunity to take some enchanting photos of mom and dad together against the backdrop of a pink sunset. We couldn’t forget about capturing their love and connection too!
If you have little ones turning one, I highly recommend scheduling a cake smash photoshoot before their big birthday party. These photoshoots offer kids the chance to try cake in a relaxed setting, and they allow parents to be fully present for this milestone moment. This way, when the party arrives, parents can enjoy the festivities without feeling like they missed out on anything special.
Stephanie was so amazing to work with! Her communication prior to the shoot was amazing and she made sure we felt comfortable to reach out to her with any questions before the day came. During the shoot she was so fun to work with and she was so patient with our little guy (one year old) when doing pictures and let him lead the shoot. Would highly recommend her to anybody needing a photographer!
